The Academic Committee makes its programming decisions including standby proposals on the  third week of June. Thereafter any proposal submissions will not be considered.

Inequidad laboral y desequilibrio económico

El informe de OXFAM  “Premiar el trabajo, no la riqueza” (Enero 2018), presenta diversas situaciones que reflejan la realidad de las personas en muchas partes del mundo, la desigualdad económica y las injusticias que se observan día a día por la falta de oportunidades e inequidad laboral.

Entre otros aspectos, encontramos los siguientes:

a) Ya no sólo hay multimillonarios, en 2016 surgió un milmillonario cada dos días, de los cuales el 90% son hombres. Casi una tercera parte de los millonarios han heredado su fortuna. Los monopolios,  relaciones de nepotismo o de connivencia con los Gobiernos también han contribuido a amasar fortunas.

b) El banco Credit Suisse indica que 42 personas poseen actualmente la misma riqueza que los 3 700 millones de personas más pobres del mundo;

c) Los aspectos fiscales también favorecen a los más ricos puesto que tienen más oportunidades de realizar deducciones y operaciones entre sus empresas que los benefician y por tanto pagan menos impuestos.

d) Los salarios son demasiado bajos, más de la mitad de la población mundial sobrevive dentro de la franja entre los 2 y los 10 dólares al día. Tener un trabajo no significa escapar de la pobreza. La Organización Mundial del Trabajo (OIT) ha estimado que cerca de una de cada tres personas con trabajo en países emergentes o en desarrollo vive en la pobreza.

e) La desigualdad de género se agrava cada vez más, las mujeres ganan menos que los hombres por trabajos iguales, las acciones, tierras y demás propiedades no les pertenecen. Aunado a esto,  las reglas sociales, las actitudes y las creencias infravaloran las capacidades de las mujeres y su papel en la sociedad, e incluso justifican la violencia y la discriminación, al mismo tiempo que establecen qué empleos pueden hacer y a cuáles no pueden aspirar.

f) Esclavitud moderna. La nueva esclavitud se da en las fábricas, las personas se ven forzadas a trabajar por un sueldo miserable, en condiciones inhumanas, sin poder ausentarse ni siquiera al baño, en condiciones inseguras y antihigiénicas. 

Los aspectos anteriores son algunos de los problemas que existen en el mundo, afectan la economía y a la sociedad en su conjunto. La desigualdad laboral y económica provoca una injusticia social que genera violencia, pobreza y falta de oportunidades a gran parte de la población mundial.
